Firma Polytex Composite s.r.o. has followed up on a long-standing tradition of making FRP products within Kovona Karviná a.s., the parent company it split away from in 1998 to act as a separate entity. The company is located in Karviná, a town in the industrial zone around Ostrava, and makes a range of machine-wound and manually laminated composite products for industrial use, in particular pipes and large tanks.

Currently, Polytex Composite s.r.o. has a staff of some 70, ensuring manufacturing, design and development of composite products with own resources. The company provides a supervision service large projects, and has cooperated with established partners to design and assemble large systems.

The bulk of the production is exported, mainly to the EU countries.

Quality assurance system and certification

Polytex Composite s.r.o. has designed, implemented and certified a quality assurance system compliant to ISO 9001:2000. All major processes and actions are defined by means of internal regulations and procedures. The cornerstone regulation is the quality assurance manual.

Apart from other certificates, Polytex Composite s.r.o. is a holder of a TÜV certificate for FRP makers according to DVS 2220 and was certified for operations in compliance with the German law on water protection (Article 19 I WHG).

Large projects for energy providers are ensured through a comprehensive cooperation with stable partners. This includes project documentation and planning, pipe supplies (including non-composite segments), supervision and on-site assembly. We are experienced in supplies to and assembly both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Portugal, Spain, Germany, Poland, etc.).

History
The FRP production at Kovona Karviná started in 1953, among the first within Eastern and Central Europe. At first, it involved special military equipment (such as additional fuel tanks for jet planes) and highly resistant helmets for motorcyclists and coal miners. The first composite car parts are documented here too, both for racing cars and standard series cars as well as caravans.
In 1970, a winding technology was purchased to allow for precise winding composite tubes or up to todiameters 3600 mm. This technology has allowed to make a range of composite pipes and large tanks, as well as to start an environmental programme of waste water treatment facilities for small sources of pollution. In the 1990s, a FRP programme for power stations and the chemical industry was introduced.
